ASIS International Chapter 50 - Kansas City
The Kansas City Chapter of American Society of Industrial Security International (ASIS) is one of the larger Midwest chapters and it continues to offer its members an active choice of meetings, trainings and certification opportunities. Throughout the year, members may chose from the following events:
- CHAPTER MEETINGS - Monthly chapter luncheon meetings are held that include a guest speaker on a topic related to security, risk management, loss prevention, law enforcement, homeland security or other topics of interest. The Chapter has a higher than average per total membership attendance record at our local monthly lunches due to the "relationships" that are built between the service providers, product providers and end users throughout the metropolitan area, which all lead to a stronger chapter and more secure Kansas City.
- NEWSLETTER - The newsletter dubbed "Security News for America's Heartland" is published on a monthly basis and is distributed to membership via e-mail and posted on the chapter website. This is an excellent resource intended to keep members aware of the latest news and information relating to the chapter as well as local, regional, national and international news which may impact our industry.
- ANNUAL SEMINAR - The chapter participates in the Midwest Consolidated Security Forum which provides approximately 40 speakers in a two day conference and is attended by hundreds of participants. The seminar typically is broken into four separate tracks covering physical, infrastructure, forensics and cyber security. The event is sponsored by Kansas City ASIS, Information Systems Security Association, Infragard (alliance between the FBI and private sector,) Federal Bureau of Investigation, High Technology Crime Investigation Association, Business Executives for National Security, Mid-American Regional Council and Partnership for Emergency Planning.
- LAW ENFORCEMENT APPRECIATION - This event is held annually to recognize the sacrifice and heroism that is displayed daily by the various branches of law enforcement.
- KC-ASIS CHARITY GOLF TOURNAMENT - Annually, the chapter sponsors a charity golf tournament with an awards ceremony and banquet will follow with a live auction afterwards. Net proceeds from this tournament will benefit the Kansas City Branch of the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children. Last year our chapter donation was over $15,000!
